The heartiest of the BIG line, beef through and through, about as close as a freezer gets to a roast dinner. It belongs to the meat-and-potatoes eater of the house, the one who checks the pot twice before it even boils. Drain them well, add butter and cracked pepper, and keep horseradish nearby for the brave.

How we cook them at home

  1. Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a rolling boil.
  2. Add the frozen dumplings straight from the bag and give them one good stir so nothing sticks.
  3. When the water comes back to a boil, cook five to eight minutes, until they float and the dough turns tender.
  4. Drain, add butter or a spoonful of sour cream, and call everyone to the table.
